“Over the last decade, our knowledge of the mechanisms of innate immunity has greatly increased. This has been accompanied by an increased understanding of the importance of innate immunity not only in host defence but also in the pathogenesis of several periodic or chronic inflammatory diseases. Over the next few years, an increasing number of such conditions may be found to be related to innate immunity abnormalities.
The Fifth International Congress on FMF and Systemic Autoinflammatory Diseases is a follow-up to the previous meetings held in Jerusalem, Antalya, Montpellier and Bethesda. The Congress will review our current knowledge of the mechanisms of innate immunity and discuss their relevance to the pathogenesis of autoinflammatory and other chronic diseases.
We would like to thank in advance all those who have agreed to speak at the Congress. We would also like to express our gratitude to the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) and the Paediatric Rheumatology European Society (PRES) for their kind endorsements.
We hope to see you in Rome for what promises to be an interesting and productive meeting.”
